I pretty much agree with this. I can see this being a big season for Saha, along with Vaughan and Anichebe, with 3 having to become 1. If Saha has a good season, i can see him getting a new 2 year contract to see his career out with us, with Vaughan and Anichebe moving on, and the next set of kids replacing them.

When fit he's clinical. If the ball is bouncing around the box he'll tuck it away. And again you have to ask, with a week to go until the season starts, taking his onfield form at face value, would we be able to replace him with 8m? Unlikely.
Saha's owes Moyes an injury free season. He's put alot of faith in him and would love to see a fit Yak and Saha working together. Our striking department if injuries can be prevented has massive potential. Lets try keep them together.

No chance! At this late stage we shouldn't be selling anyone we won't be able to replace.Diamond wrote:http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5481409,00.html
Must say as much as I think he is a great striker considering his injury problem and age 8 million would have been a very tempting offer. I would actually go as far to say I think we should have taken it.
Saha is a first choice striker, and while 8 million quid would be nice, we'd never replace him before next week, which leaves Vaughan playing on his own if Jo isn't fit!

I feel we did the right thing as well. We can't let a class striker leave (assuming he stays fit). They can have Anichebe for £8M though.

There's two aspects to this for me.
1) £8m? I'd have taken that in a heart beat if it's a genuine bid.
2) Leak a story implying we don't need £8m (even for an injury prone player in his 30's). That tells Man City they need to pay what we want for Lescott because we just dont need their dirty cash. Get your supersized cheque book out Sheikh Mabooty.

I don't think he ever was. I thought he offered to sign for us on that basis but the club said they'd have a normal contract with him. Maybe I've got that wrong (I doubt it though as I'm always right, even when I'm wrong).

Re: 8. Louis Saha - King Twit-ter (loaned to Spurs)
I think we are paying Man Utd based on the number of games he plays, so it's a pay-as-you-play deal with them, not in regards to his wages. He did offer to not take any wages until he was fit at the beginning of last season, but we turned that down.Blue_Monkey wrote:My other LB is a Ferrari wrote:Is he still on Pay-as-you-play ??

Would of taken it - we need the money and he is 31 and on 40k a week and injury prone - could of used the money to get Defour without selling Lescott and if Jo is any good buy him at the end of the season

They can have him for £8 mate! And "Yes" I hope he makes me eat my words if he stays with us.

Why sell the fastest ever goal scoring forward in FA cup history? So much has been said about Lescott and also Owen. It's a bit like having Andy Gray in your team when everyone snuffs it. A fully fit Everton is dangerous, add some players and we are there.

A lot of the reports are saying that Saha didn't want to go, something that is nice to hear! He's obviously settled in and wants to play for us.
