That amazed me as well so I googled and found this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakubu_Aiyegbeni

Yeah, I know that Wiki is less than exact but there is some creative use of dates within the page.

Middlesbrough

Yakubu in action for Middlesbrough, 2006After the 200405 season, he transferred from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough for a 7.5 million fee.[5] Yakubu scored the only goal of the game with a penalty in the first leg of the UEFA Cup last 16 round at home against Roma, giving Middlesbrough a 10 victory, who later went through on away goals. He played for Middlesbrough in the 2006 UEFA Cup Final.

His transfer from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough in July 2009 is one of those about which the Stevens inquiry report in June 2007 expressed concerns because of the lack of co-operation from agents Pinhas Zahavi and Barry Silkman.[6]

Everton
Yakubu was transferred to Everton in August 2009 for a fee of 11.25 million on a five-year deal.[2] Shunning the traditional centre-forwards' number 9, Yakubu asked to be assigned number 22, setting this number as a goal-scoring target for his first season,[7] a feat he fell one goal short of achieving.[8] He scored 11 minutes into his debut for the club, the first goal in a 21 win against Bolton Wanderers at Reebok Stadium in September 2007

That said looking at the Wikipedia page for Alan Hansen and Stevie-Me is hilarious.... and the history pages which shows which comments have been removed... some of the stuff on Hansen is epic.

I'll miss the Yak. His centre of gravity was a thing to behold. Shite after his ankle injury but gave us one more last hurrah against the shite.

I wonder, Was it attitude or ability that saw his demise?

Can we recall loan players? I guess it depends on the terms of the deal.

Are we allowed to recall him? Some loan contracts are not allowed to be cancelled by either team and some can be. I'm not sure which the Yak is on.

I read someone that he said he could bring him back if he wanted but its very unlikely he would. I guess there must be something more to the issue, some problem between the two of them

Can hardly see Given stepping down a level regardless of wages.

He seems happy rotting on the Man City bench. Shame, as he's a great keeper.

Sven drops Yak then gets response
Sven-Goran Eriksson said he got exactly the response he was looking for after dropping star striker Yakubu when Leicester played Watford on Monday. The Leicester City manager admitted he had been unhappy with the Nigerian's recent performances and left the on-loan Everton player on the bench. But Yakubu went on as a substitute and scored twice in the 4-2 victory over the Hornets at the Walkers Stadium. more...

If we accepted 2 million I think that would be a huge mistake. It has to be one of the more bizzare pieces of business by Moyes to let him go out on loan....it could have been so different yesterday if he was playing up front.

I can only think of 2 reasons why he has gone out on loan

1) the relationship between him and Moyes has broken down somewhere down the lines, maybe not a Coincidencethat Yobo(his friend) was sent out a loan before him

2) Our finances are in such dire straits that Moyes was forced to trim the wage bill

Whatever the reason we cannot let him go on the cheap and 2 million would be a joke, we should not accept less than 5 million

Surely we can do better than 2M?! It does seem rather low for a (proven) goal scorer. If that story os true, I wonder what is going on between Moyes and the Yak, again 2M seems way too low.

Post  Dixie Land on Sun 01 May 2011, 8:06 pm

From The People:

Everton boss David Moyes will let Yakubu go this summer but wants a 2million fee for the Nigeria forward.

Yakubu, 28, has been banging in the goals for LEICESTER on loan but will not be staying on and is attracting plenty of interest abroad.

Everton are sticking to their demand for a decent fee for the former Portsmouth and Middlesbrough man as they look to claw back some cash for signings of their own ahead of next season.

What a load of bollocks that article is.... The Yak is 28??? They are having a fooking laugh.

The story is bullshit. If Moyes has demanded 2m for Yak, where is the quote from him 'I want 2m forYakubu'? It doesn't exist, just like the intellect of the people who write for the People, or indeed buy the paper.
