2: Tony Hibbert - He Scores When He Wants!!

Post  Made 4 Gwladys on Wed 22 Jul 2009, 5:21 pm

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/everton-turn-attention-to-onuoha-1757033.html

This piece mentions alsorts & I don't really give a voles arse about Onuahohuahua

The Hibbo quotes caught my eye though !

He said: "The challenge is the same every season. When you play for Everton you have got to show you deserve to be in the team. You must fight all the time to keep your marks up.

"You look at the age of the players now coming through and that is when it hits you that you are not one of the kids any more. The talent that some of them have is unbelievable and in years to come, it is only going to help the club.

"The gaffer was spot on to look at another right-back. That is always going to happen because if you want to be successful now, you need two players for every position and it is good to see that Everton are being linked with these outstanding young players.

"I love the club, I have been here all my life and whoever gets brought in is only going to help us out, so why would I complain?"

But questions have been asked about Hibbert's future after his nightmare at Wembley.

Hibbert said: "When the season finished, I got away as soon as I could and had a couple of holidays with my family. But here we are again, back to work with the season not far off. It just goes by too quickly.

"How was I after the final? It was just one of those things. We all went into the game with the highest of hopes but we came out of it on a real downer. But you have to do everything you can to put it behind you as soon as possible.

"Getting back to another final has to be the aim. Looking back, it was a nightmare to get booked so early and, to be honest, it rattled me. I love tackling, that is what I base my game on, so straight away I was thinking 'I'm not going to be able to tackle here'.

"You just have to look at things in a positive way if you can. All the lads have got a lot of experience now and they know what playing in a final is all about and I am sure it is only going to help us in the long term."

I thought that at the time. Being booked for nothing so early contributed massively to how shite he was on the day. He was so afraid of being sent off he became totally anonymous.

Nothing different than Hibbert would have done, in fact he offered less going forward than Hibbert but the pricks on the Lower Gwladys were singing his name

I thought he did rather well. Offered some support and made the transition to CM rather well as well in the second half. His shooting is crap though.

he looks comfortable on the ball, like rodwell.

Hibbo always looks to me like he expects to get into trouble.

Let's cut to the chase. You don't play 50 games for Holland by being as good as Hibbo.

When I heard that Hibbert was playing CB, I thought we were doomed!

How wrong I was. He was brilliant, saving us on a number of occasions.

I wonder if he could pitch in withe odd goal? king

cos he was playinntral he had more options to pass to. he could open his body up and pass to the right to gosling and cahill, which he did quite frequently. they also gave him a bit more time on the ball than he's used to. id say he even looked confortable in possession last night!

Very true, one of his downfalls when he play at rightback is quite often because he lacks a bit of pace he can get done for and quite often he fouls when he trys to make up on the player. his crossing isn`t great either. at centreback he can play the simple pass out of defence so he looks a bit more comfortable.

I think we should give him a couple more goes here in the Uefa games now we are almost certain to qualify. I would like to see him there against a better team, maybe Benfica.
