I am quite happy with Distin, bit of a dodgy spell last season with Pompey, but solid defender who can actually pass the ball. Good pick with Roger on his way to patures new. He should drop straight into the team.

This is what would have appealed to Moyes the most. Its a shame he's getting on.

? a three year deal? for a 31 year old? thought we were only offering one year deals to players over the age of 30 (remember stubbs and carsley?)

Good player but getting on. I would have liked to haved signed him a couple of years back but he ended up at Pompey for 2m which was bargain of the century.

5m is a rip off for a 32 year old with 1 year remaining on his contract but he'll do a job for us next season.

where are you getting 5m from? its nothing but gossip.

I'd be surprised if it was more than 2m not including add ons.

The important thing is prem experience and able to slot in straight away. He's got both of those. We've got plenty out of 30+ year old players before.

I think the fee is actually 4m, he's 31 so should have 3 good years left and can also cover LB and will fit straight into the team - he's not the ideal signing but we do have Jags coming back and Moyes can get someone good next summer - he is better than Neville or Rodwell at the moment though

Good bit of business as he can play centre back and cover Baines at left back as well! I wouldn't be surprised to see Jags and Distin as out first choice pairing after Xmas either!

Now then... Three more! Very Happy

Agreed - unfortunately they will be for Everton rather than one of our competitors.

i like Yobo, Moyes 1st signing? great servant.
but he's been very dodgy so far, as our only cb he should really be stepping up but he's been all over the shop at times.

Had a nice run down the left today with the ball at his feet. Reminded me of Lescott Neutral Neutral Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Personally I hate the use of the word "servant" in the context of footballers. He has been paid an absolute fortune to play football at Everton for 7 years (the lucky fucker). The word "slave" doesn't do much for me either.

Nothing against the bloke and generally he has kept his head down but he doesn't instill me with confidence - never has.

No need to apologise. I like the bloke, he has been a good buy but we are better than we were 7 years ago.

Both City and Pompey fans (on BBC 606) are reasonably complimentary about Distin.
