He is meant to be getting the No 6 jersey next season as he will be playing a lot more in the first team. See what happens.

If we can get a decent price then I think we should sell.

I actually like the lad but don't think he has progressed as well as he could, and perhaps should. He does seem to be hampered by injury but a fresh start could do him good and also give us some money to strengthen other areas. With him being in the England squad again and big name clubs allegedly being interested there is a good chance we could get 15 million+ for him.

It's weird, if you looks at let's say Ossies stats over the last 2 years and compare them to Rodwell, regardless of their ages, Leon looks more likely the 15m man. Rodwell simply 'looks' the part rather then actually producing any meaningful form yet; that iconic 3rd goal against Man U, steamrolling through their defence still holding a lot of currency in the minds of people. People wish to see him as physically imposing energetic all action central midfielder and whilst he looks the part, it's probably true it's still just potential rather then a reality. Now how long do you wait for potential? 3 years? 4 years?. Injuries probably have dented his progress and he still is very young but it's safe to say, his stock is still vastly over valued and it's a good time to sell, especially if something comes in over 10m plus. Gibson is probably more likely to do this season what Rodwell is supposed to be able to do.

It's not just that. I think the little feint on the touchline which sold Vincent "best defender in the world" Kompany and subsequent burst into City's box to set up arteta's second really stands out for me. It was the move of a kid with skills and a good brain. I also think he was starting to settle into the side at the start of last season before he got injured. The problem we have is that he doesn't have a stand out position and we don't have a stand out need for him to fill in in a particular position. So we see a kid trying to learn his trade playing in a variety of positions and never really mastering any of them.

Aww I didn't mean it, what I said, honestly.. Very Happy

Seriously though, he is probably our most saleable asset and no doubt Moyes has giving his blessing as long as he gets to spend the proceeds. however, I don't think it's a good move for Rodwell. Utd or Chelsea would have been better. He'll be lucky to make 10 appearances this season

Shouldn't be pessimistic. Its the way football is now. Very few clubs today can hold onto their top assets i.e. Modric, Van Persie, Agger etc. The timing might not be ideal (although could be worse) but 15m is excellent value, right at the top of the market for Rodwell so good time to sell. Rather him then Baines or Fellaini. As long as Moyes gets to the funds to reinvest, (he certainly won't get funds from anywhere else!) then this the model we must content with.

Good point, but i'd still not want to sell one of our own lads, to the Premier League Champions.

We've barely seen Rodwell play, yet the Champions of the league see enough of him to buy him, thats my beef.
