Fenerbahçe are close to completing the transfer of 31-year-old Everton defender Joseph Yobo.

According to English newspaper, The Sun, Fenerbahçe are set to make a €2 million offer which The Toffees are likely to accept.

Everton Manager David Moyes has deemed Yobo surplus to requirements at Goodison Park and is keen to offload the defender in July.

The Nigerian International has been on loan with the Istanbul giants for the past two seasons and has cemented himself as a first team regular.

The 31 year old centre back has settled into life in Turkey and recently told reporters in Istanbul, "I am very happy in Turkey and at Fenerbahçe as is my family.

"I feel at home here, hopefully an agreement will be reached and I can continue playing at the club," he said.

Yobo featured in 42 games last season and played an integral role in the Canaries finishing runners-up despite their turbulent year.

Fenerbahçe are also facing competition from Leicester City who have also been closely linked with the experienced defender.

I'll drive him there, if he isn't there already, I like Turkey.

In fact I'm going to have a piece of Turkish Delight with my lunch to seal the deal (neighbour just came back from Istanbul)

Fenerbahçe president jailed for 6 years and 3 months for match fixing, but released for time already served.

Good luck Joey!

I can't believe he's still technically an everton player. He left like 2 years ago and we still haven't received a penny. Now he must be worth nothing! Shocking piece of business!

I will have to agree. Let the player go out one year on loan, but another year? Seems rather odd. His value must be less and less with a shorter time remaining on his contract.

get shot and move on. I'm all for making sure we dont miss out on any pennies but getting him off wage bill pays for new player and half decent money, think i seen he was on £50k a week?

Not sure if it is true but I heard the loan fee was £1 million a season. That is the same fee as when we loaned him originally. If it is true and we can now get £2 million for him then we would have got a total of £4 million and also not paid his wages for 2 years.

Nigerian deal to wire £2m into your bank account? Suspect Spurs will never fall for that!

As much as I'd be annoyed not to get £2million for Yobo. I think fenerbahce have pissed us about plenty on this one. So I'd like to see us stand firm and sell him to someone else just so they learn a lesson.

They just now we are skint and desperate for any money so hold all the cards. Should be some Europe wide arbitration to set fair transfers between disputing clubs

Dodgy business relying on Toffeeweb for the news. It´s not as trustworthy as, say, this site.

In other news, Princess Diana seen in ironmongers in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. " She asked if she could use our toilet" said shocked proprietor Ivor Screwloose. Remember, you read it here first!!!
