Jagielka sets comeback target
Everton defender Phil Jagielka hopes to return to training after injury in the next few weeks. The England centre-back has not played since sustaining a horrific knee ligament injury at the end of last season. Jagielka recently admitted that he was not thinking of attempting to return to full form and fitness in time for the World Cup and that his focus was on club football. That aim has now moved a step closer as the 27-year-old hopes to be back training with Everton early in 2010. He said: "It's going well, still quite slow but that's part and parcel of it at the moment. "I've just got to wait, and hopefully a few weeks into the New Year I'll be able to start training and see where it goes from there." Meanwhile, Jagielka believes the loan signing of USA forward Landon Donovan ahead of January will prove an astute piece of business as Everton wrestle with a lengthy injury list. "I've been watching the US team and seen how well they have done recently and he's been an integral part of that," he told evertonTV. "He's a good player and hopefully he'll add some quality to the team. "We've not got that many players at the moment, so he's another body with some quality in there. "There's a few of us who have been out for a while now, and hopefully if we can all get back it will be like having some new players and we can kick on in the league."

I assume this is off the OS then? And they still are very cautious when it comes to stating a date for his return.

That is actually a pretty strong Reserve team we have playing
Everton: Turner, Coleman, Bidwell, Wallace, Jagielka, Duffy, Craig, Forshaw, Vaughan, Anichebe, Baxter. Subs: Davies, Akpan, Peterlin, Nsiala, McAleny.

Re: 6: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
Saw him on Saturday, he walked along the side of the park end, then down the main stand to the players entrance, he signed some autographs, which is always a nice touch I think.
Then 2 minutes later Senderos turned up, did the same.
Ying/Yang that, I thought to myself.

Re: 6: Phil Jagielka - "Torres in my Pocket"
Just a thought. When Jags gets back in the team, I would not be surprised if he is paired with JohnnyH, in preference to Distin or Yobo. This would make either Distin or Yobo surplus to needs in the summer.
If Distin only signed up for a year it would make his departure easy, or would we hang onto both Yobo and Distin after the summer as squad players?

Distin signed a three year deal.

we've outgrown yobo now, his distribution is effectively a hoof, as is Jags I suspect, but hopefully with Johny 5 alongside him he'll calm down a bit.

i think jags will take at least 12 months to get back to his best, which gives yobo time to learn to pass on the ground(again) i don't think it's a suprise since lescott left and jags injured, his distribution etc, has gone backwards.
