I think that it is the words "more than" that will kill this deal. Really hope that I'm wrong though.

My guess is that Moyes is looking at around 40k/wk, and we might very well be about 15k/wk apart.

When you bid for a player the club must know approximate wage demands etc. Probably wants the No 2 jesey and Hibbert wont let it go as it makes him millions through his marketing rights deal!

I think he'll sign for us

We do generally come in with low offers on transfer fees and wages though and then work our way up a little bit at a time, I should think 50k a week would get him to sign as lomg as he wants to leave but we still have to get the medical done as well

to be fair pip is on a rumoured 50-55k per week, so if we're signing a top class defender its only right that they should be there or there abouts, its not as if noone at the club is there and we're breaking the cap for them

the only problem is if he breaks squad harmony by thinking he's the best

If we get Banega, Johnny come lately and VDV that we are strongly linked with then we have a decent chance of top four finish. The wages of The two dutch lads would be a problem. I'm dreaming I know, but just how exciting would that be.

I would be pleasantly surpised if we get one of those players

Ujfalusi speaking after Madrid were walloped by Malaga yesterday:

For his part, Ujfalusi also wanted to highlight that it was a tough blow. None of us expected to lose. The squad played well in the opening 25 minutes. They were lucky on their goal. We risked things in search of the equaliser and it didnt go well for us. Its the first game of the season and we have to remain calm. We have to keep our heads clear. There are many players who are going off with their respective national teams and those of us who are staying here in Madrid will keep working.

Heitinga arrived at the team with me and weve always played together since then and Id like him to stay at the team, but hes the one who has to make the decision, Ujfalusi wrapped up.

Pienaar:

We hope a few more faces will come in to boost our confidence and it will make us more alert because we will all be fighting for places.

I hope Johnny is one of them. I know him really well hes a good defender, a good professional and his record shows that as hes played for Ajax, Atletico and Holland.

Hed be a great signing for us. He can play in a few positions right-back, centre-back or just in front of the defence. Hes a quality player.

If he comes in, it would bring more football to the team also. Hes good on the ball and it will be a massive plus for us you want to see players of his quality come to the club.
