And according to the Daily Mail, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are monitoring the England international's situation.

They say there will likely be a bidding war at the end of the transfer window for the 23-year-old, who is also wanted by Tottenham.

According to BBC he had just had groin surgery and will be out for 3-4 weeks which will
just bring us up to end of window!

The Red Devils are also monitoring Ross Barkley's situation at Everton as they consider a move for the 23-year-old England midfielder. (Mirror)

But Barkley is keen to join Tottenham after hearing glowing reports about manager Mauricio Pochettino. (Standard)

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is "looking for a new challenge" and the club "100%" expect the player to leave, says manager Ronald Koeman.

A real challenge would be for him to play well enough to get into our starting line up! Shame that he's going although perhaps I have a soft spot for players who come through our youth system.

Can't see us getting more than £20m tbh.

Yeah, with a year left on his contract and him agitating for a move, £20-25m is probably the top end. †Sad to see a local lad go, but if we get Sigurdsson as his
replacement at a net cost of around £20-£30m, then the job's a good 'un. As Ross came through the system, anything we get for him is profit.

It's difficult to see exactly where his game has gone dry. He has rarely looked fully fit for 90 minutes, since his first season. His running style seemed to change and maybe this operation is an indication. It's unimaginable him scoring another goal like the Newcastle one, but most of all it seems to have been between the ears. It will be interesting as to how his future manager will deal with that. It could be he just hasn't hit it off with Koeman?

This ^ Ross is great on his day and sometimes he makes worldie passes and through balls, but his decision making is 50/50 to be honest, he'll as like make the wrong pass as the right pass.

I keep reading the headlines as saying "Koeman says Ross Barkley is 100% a blert" because he has blown his chance to be an Everton legend, and no matter where he goes, he will never be given the freedom that Martinez gave him, and he will never get the paypacket he thinks he deserves (although to be honest he doesn't deserve the one he has).

I think Barks' relationship with Koeman is the main reason for his departure. Even playing at his current level (i.e. below his potential), he is still our best midfielder yet Koeman frequently criticised him in public last season while playing Kev (who produces far less goals and assists than Barks) in almost every game.

That said, it is feasible that Barks/his agent are being cocks about the new contract. He's not worth £100k+ a week.

It's a shame but it's the best outcome for Everton. As good as he is on the ball, nobody can deny that when it goes through him, everything slows down, frustrating as hell.

Thanks for the (few) memories Ross. All the best.

One incident which hasn't come into the discussion, is the night club thump he took in April. Do we have a "the leaving of Liverpool" situation?

Moyes - Benched him the dropped him and loaned him out
Warnock - Returned him early from the loan - didn't play him much
Martinez - Watched him grow fat and useless, yet still praised him
Hodgson - Bolllocked him for losing possession easily and benched him
Southgate - Benched him then dropped him
Koeman - Benched him and isn't arsed about him going

See the common denominator here?

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will have to lower his wage demands to join Tottenham, who are not willing to pay the £120,000 a week wages the 23-year-old England international turned down at Goodison Park. (Mirror)

The Toffees are also prepared to hold out for a fee of £35m for Barkley, despite him having less than 12 months on his contract. (Mail)

what a twat he is...

.. turned down more money than Spuds will offer him
.. turned down playing time for a chance to get splinters in his arse
.. pissed off Koeman to the point where he's no longer in any plans at all & in fact unwanted
.. fucked his Engerland chances

.. done all this while he was waiting for surgery, which has put him out of the start of the season.

will end up at Wet Spam or a clone of Rodders / Jeffers / Gosling et al...

Apparently back in training and training is a 'good way', according to Keoman, who has softened his stance on selling Barkley.
