To be honest we will be lucky to get £20m for him.

He could sit on his arse until Jan and sign a pre-contract.

He's gone and assigned to the history bin now.

Not arsed to be fair

Great. The club can drive him there so I don't have to. The sooner he's gone, the better.

I like the whole idea of Barkley being a local lad and the team being built around him but his attitude and mental strength sucks. We've got a few young lads coming through now that can take Barkleys place.

Costa going the other way as part of the deal? Even if it's just for a loan?

If Costa gets his Atletico move in January, why would he not want to come here? Keeps fit, plays Euro footy, and doesn't mess up his CL egilibility.

I'm slightly confused by Chelsea's transfer policy. I mean Oxlade-Chamberlaine and Barkley - neither of them are world-class are they? Or am I missing something?

They are English. Chelsea need to up their contingent of homegrown players to satisfy the leagues rules.

But haven't they got a load of kids in the squad who qualify as English?  Still, if that is the reason, why on earth would Barkley or Ox want to go there, unless they're happy to kill their careers but earn money and go to the occasional trophy-winners dinner?

lol! lol! Too right! Chelsea are desperate to increase their homegrown player tally so there is no need to accept the first offer coming in. Still got a whole day to get this sorted - plenty of time. cheers

Next: £30M bid. Rejected. £35M bid. Accepted.

it is now being reported that Barkley changed his mind DURING the medical.

Rumours are that Barks rejected Chavs, rather than us rejecting the offer. Is he hoping for a move to Spuds? Or waiting until next summer when he gets more choice in which club to sign for?

Re: 20: Ross Barkley - Royal Blue future

Post  Armchair on Thu 31 Aug 2017, 10:53 pm

Ross Barkley has turned down a move to Premier League champions Chelsea in order to stay at Everton, according to the club's majority shareholder.

Farhad Moshiri said the club had accepted a bid and Barkley had agreed personal terms, before changing his mind after passing a medical.

Everton had initially rejected a £25m offer from Chelsea for the 23-year-old England midfielder on Wednesday.

"It is a big surprise but that is football," Moshiri told Sky Sports.

Presumably he isn't going to sign a new contract though, so we'll be £25m plus his wages out of pocket.

What a shitbag. Perhaps this is his final way of sticking two fingers up at the club. really don't know what's gone on behind the scenes here, but I think he's burnt a lot more bridges today.
