I think he was talking about how many goals he scored in 100 games, not his shirt number.

Wow, really? Needless to say we are after him since he'll be free, but I am still a bit surprised. Used as a winger then?

Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back?
Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mack, when are you coming back?
David Moyes has been missing you, the fans feel the same way too

Looking at this, on the face of it, it's a big no no.
BUT
We signed him for 1.5M, sold him for 6M was it?
If we got him on a free and used him as a stop gap and sold him for say, 2M then is that not good business?
Or, he might even have learned not to kick the ball at defenders legs when trying to get past them?!

Re: James McFadden - The Scottish Rooney - returns!
There's no such thing as a Free though really. If he gets a three year contract at £30k a week, then he's costing us over £4.5m. If we give him a five year contract so there's a chance of making money by selling him, then the contract will be worth nearly £8m and he could be with us til he's 33.
I think that any player on a free has run down their contract so they can ask for bigger wages from their new club because there is no transfer fee. So whether there's a fee or not, the net result is the same for the "buyer".
What I'm trying to say is, he's either worth buying or he's not. If they were asking £3m for him would we be happy to see Moyes making a purchase? Cos he's going to cost us nearly £8m anyway on a £30k a week five year contract. And surely he's a benchwarmer for us now?

Re: James McFadden - The Scottish Rooney - returns!
From the reliable source that is tribal football....
Everton boss David Moyes isn't expected to pursue a deal for released Birmingham City attacker James McFadden.
The Liverpool Echo says reports yesterday suggested the Blues were weighing up a move for free agent McFadden, 28, after he was released by relegated Birmingham City last month.
But despite targeting the free transfer and loan end of the market, Toffees boss David Moyes is reluctant to re-sign a player whose career has been hampered with injury since a £5m departure from Merseyside in 2008.
Scotland international McFadden enjoyed five seasons at Everton, and still has many friends at the club, but Moyes’ priority remains goal-scoring reinforcement.

Re: James McFadden - The Scottish Rooney - returns!
I read somewhere he has scored 7 goals for Everton since Anichebe has scored at Goodison.
