Re: James McFadden - The Scottish Rooney - returns!

From the reliable source that is tribal football....

Everton boss David Moyes isn't expected to pursue a deal for released Birmingham City attacker James McFadden.

The Liverpool Echo says reports yesterday suggested the Blues were weighing up a move for free agent McFadden, 28, after he was released by relegated Birmingham City last month.

But despite targeting the free transfer and loan end of the market, Toffees boss David Moyes is reluctant to re-sign a player whose career has been hampered with injury since a £5m departure from Merseyside in 2008.

Scotland international McFadden enjoyed five seasons at Everton, and still has many friends at the club, but Moyes’ priority remains goal-scoring reinforcement.

I read somewhere he has scored 7 goals for Everton since Anichebe has scored at Goodison.

I agree. Very Happy

I remember one European game (can't remember which now) when Faddy did an amazing run down the right wing, then cut in skinning the full back, Andy Johnson was unmarked in the box and Faddy took a shot from an impossible angle spooning it into row Z of the Park End. I always thought that summed him up, i.e. he could be good but isn't.

Yeah, can't really see Moyes going after him to be honest. He (Moyes) knows that he wants better players now.

Can't think why Davy would do this, unless he's taking his coaching badges but keeping his registration? He's a bright lad and I could see him getting into management, would work then

The only reason(s) must be that he's free and he could play both as a winger and as a striker.

Right.

Was out for dinner today, and James McFadden was sat opposite us, I asked for a picture ( just to chat to him).

He is training with Everton next week, and a view to a pay as you play contract afterwards.

Wish I was making this up, he is sound btw.
