Harsh according to Ian Dowie.

According to the BBC:

Bolton red card: David Wheater poorly controls a ball on the halfway line allowing Diniyar Bilyaletdinov to nip in. The defender lunges to try and prevent the midfielder getting away and catches him studs up on the shin. Deserved dismissal. Bolton in trouble though as Everton have already been controlling possession.
