35: Conor McAleny - playing somewhere next season, probably

Post  Armchair on Sat 17 Mar 2012, 9:21 am

Southampton and Derby County are tracking Everton striker Conor McAleny,  19, who is available on a free transfer at the end of the season after failing to agree new terms with the Merseysiders.

Full story: Daily Mail

He never made it.

Or...

He'll make it somewhere else and we'll kick ourselves for letting him go.

He looked good in the seven minutes or so he got on the pitch. Shame.

That Wikipedia entry reminds me of a friend of mine. He's an ex-pro here in Peru who occasionally plays for our team. Fantastic quote; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Silva

I have suspicions that there are some gays in football. Sometimes you can't help but wonder about it. I am not a gay, but if I was, or if I was a woman, which is similar, I would do David Beckham. But that's just my individual opinion.

Post  Made 4 Gwladys on Tue 30 Jul 2013, 11:13 pm

Everton loanee Conor McAleny introduced himself to Brentford fans with a superb brace as the Bees produced an excellent display against Premier League new boys Cardiff City to claim a magnificent victory.

The Bluebirds showed their cutting edge inside the first quarter of an hour as they raced into a 2-0 lead after goals from the impressive Kim Bo-Kyung and Frazier Campbell.

The home side struggled to show the ruthlessness in front of goal but the 20-year-old showed his potential with a superb curling shot from 14 yards.

And he repeated the feat early in the second half with a goal from the equivalent position.

Went down to Vale Park today to see Port Vale take on Brentford. Was quite impressed by McAleny in the first half but he had a poor second half. He played on the left wing but seemed to play more like an old inside forward. He wasn't afraid to get stuck in and tackled the Vale full back a couple of times. He showed some promise and made some good runs but didn't really have a sniff on goal.

Maybe one for the future but didn't set the game alight today. Shame he didn't get played in his natural position though.

On another note, Jake Bidwell and Adam Forshaw looked good for The Bees today. Forshaw could be a real prospect in the future.

Was disappionted when we sold Forshaw watched him for england U20's two years back and he looked like a real midfield presence, calm on the ball, eye for a pass and looked like a leader.

He was easily the best player on the pitch today. I know it was only a league 1 game but he looked as if he is going to be a very good player when he is older. I was surprised when he left as well, I also thought that Bidwell always looked a decent prospect and could have done well learning off Baines for a few years.

Took a really nasty hit in the game against Walsall yesterday. The defender cleared the ball, but McAleny felt the full force of the challenge. Not seen how bad he is injured, but expect to read that he has broken his leg for sure.
