What are the options open to Roberto Martinez regarding our current squad and where he can strengthen.

Goal Keepers
Tim Howard (extend contract?)
Mason Springthorpe (??? never seen him)
another keeper?

Defenders
Tony Hibbert (not sure if he is going to be good enough moving forwards)
Seamus Coleman (check contract)
Leighton Baines (check contract)
Silvian Distan (another year?)
Phil Jagielka (check contract)
Johnny Hetinga (Sell! his heart is elsewhere)
Shane Duffy (replaces Hetinga)
John Stones (understudy for Coleman)
Luke Garbutt (understudy for Baines)

Midfielders
Leon Osman (solid midfield workhorse has just extended his contract)
Darren Gibson (key midfield player)
Marouane Felliani (Sheer class, we need to hold on to him)
Steven Pienaar (key play maker)
Ross Barkley (hailed the new 'Rooney')
Brian Oviedo (classy wide player)
Francisco Junior (One of Moyes gems, needs to be given a chance, nicked from Man City)

We definitely need to bolster here, as we don't want to have to play big Vic in midfield again

Forwards
Nikica Jelavic (move on in January if he doesn't find his scoring boots)
Kevin Mirallas (Sheer class)
Steven Naismith (Is he a striker?  Move on IMO)
Magaye Gueye (Good young wide player, worth another season)
Apostolos Vellios (Needs to be given more time)
Victor Anichebe (Just had his best season, check contract)
Matthew Kennedy (Another Scot that Moyes brought into the fold, but is he good enough?)
Conor McKleny (Product of the Acedemy, showing promise)

A lot of options here, so not sure if we need to bolster, unless we can't score goals

Baines & Fellaini are our two most talented players but also two most sellable players too. However I would see Felly go before Baines and give the managers the funds to recruit two/three replacements like Fer or McCarthy. Howard never really has had someone to put pressure on him but cant imagine him been unseated in the next 2-3 seasons.
Defensively we are sound with a back four of Seamus-Phil-Dist-Baines as good as any. Agreed that Heitinga is our most expendable asset at the back after an awful season.
In midfield, if Fellaini was to be sold we would need to reinvest as a priority. Ossie and Pienaar are pushing on and Barkley is still all about potential so we might need some solid experienced heads in the 22-26 age profile in there. Gibson had a poor enough second half to the season and will need to step it up next season.
Up front il be interested to see how Martinez plans to use Mirellas, our joker in the pack. Excellent drifting in at pace from the wings but also finding his range infront of goal, would you play him behind striker or continue to forge his partnership with Coleman down the right?
I would be hopeful that Martinez can get the best of Jelly once again. We certainly cant start the season the way he finished (or played most of it!) So a striker maybe a priority for him.

So to strenghten as a priority:
Striker (especially if Jelly is still shite)
Central midfielder (whether Felly is sold or not)
Right winger (If Mirellas is to be pushed up front)
Centre Half (whether Heitinga is sold or not)
Goalkeeper

What are the options open to Roberto Martinez regarding our current squad and where he can strengthen.

Goal Keepers
Tim Howard (extend contract?)
Mason Springthorpe (He's not ready to make step up)
another keeper? yes

Defenders
Tony Hibbert (love Hibbert but is he too old after all injuries?)
Seamus Coleman (he's loyal will stay long time)
Leighton Baines (may stay one season only for Martinez coming)
Silvian Distan (good servant but age a factor)
Phil Jagielka (not going anywhere Martinez will build defence around Jags)
Johnny Hetinga (Sell! his heart is elsewhere)deffinately
Shane Duffy (replaces Hetinga) hope he gets more chances
John Stones (understudy for Coleman) would try in lesser games or cups
Luke Garbutt (understudy for Baines) again as above same as Stones

Midfielders
Leon Osman (this is were we are weak good servant but age a factor)
Darren Gibson (key midfield player) agreed
Marouane Felliani (Sheer class, we need to hold on to him)no we could sell bring in Leroy Fer
Steven Pienaar (needs to be involved more)
Ross Barkley (don't rush him but give more opportunitys')
Brian Oviedo (classy wide player)I like this guy bags enthusiasm
Francisco Junior (One of Moyes gems, needs to be given a chance, nicked from Man City) same as stones/garbutt

We definitely need to bolster here, as we don't want to have to play big Vic in midfield again

Forwards
Nikica Jelavic (move on in January if he doesn't find his scoring boots) he will come good confidence shot at the moment.
Kevin Mirallas (Sheer class) this is the kid to hold onto if we can.
Steven Naismith (Is he a striker?  Move on IMO) Sorry he's not premier class
Magaye Gueye (Good young wide player, worth another season)USELESS
Apostolos Vellios (Needs to be given more time)and more games favourite with fans.
Victor Anichebe (Just had his best season, check contract)
Matthew Kennedy (Another Scot that Moyes brought into the fold, but is he good enough?)he's good just needs time.
Conor McKleny (Product of the Acedemy, showing promise)promising lad hope he stays

We need a keeper with mucha going , a central defender to cover Jags/Distin/playmaker midfielder/a 20 goal a season striker.
that would help our cause.

The number one aim this summer should be getting Baines to sign a new contract. Felli, meh. I'm not bothered if he goes as long as we get Ł20m+.

If we get a 180 goals-a-season striker I reckon weŽll have cracked it.

Pretty simple game, togger, when you think about it.
