Arrived back in Liverpool today, and is reportedly making better than expected progress with his injury.

Meanwhile, there's good news on the fitness of Gerard Deulofeu. "He'll be back this weekend and available the next," says Martinez.

Based on that though, he won't be ready for the derby, right?

Re: 10. Gerard Deulofeu (hailed the new Ronaldo)

Post  sefton on Wed 05 Feb 2014, 12:47 pm

Everton’s on-loan star Gerard Deulofeu is set to return to action for the Toffees when Roberto Martinez takes his side to Tottenham.

The 19 year old Spanish starlet has been sidelined for two months nursing a hamstring problem, but Blues Boss Martinez insists he is back and raring to go.

The Spaniard had began to make a real impression at Goodison Park just before he suffered the disappointing injury but after a frustrating period out of the side, Deulofeu is set to be included in the squad to travel to White Hart Lane this Sunday.

Everton Manager Roberto Martinez says he will come back stronger from his injury and he believes the winger will impose himself even more so in the Premier League. The Blues gaffer also revealed that Deulofeu regularly travelled over to England to keep tabs on his team mates and now he is desperate to get back on the football field and help Everton’s push for European qualification.

“He’ll definitely come back stronger. He’s excited about playing. He’s been suffering away from Finch Farm watching the games” Martinez told the Liverpool Echo.

“I can guarantee the fans they will see a very different Gerard Deulofeu and someone who is ready to be very important.

“He travelled over to watch the team in action in a couple of games, and he just really wants to help now,” continued Martinez.

“When you’re a young man it’s even harder being out injured and I can’t wait to see him helping the team again.

“Gerard already has an incredible experience under his belt. He’s come back completely refreshed and desperate to play for Everton.

“The good thing is now he comes back to an environment he knows well. In the summer he came into a club with only an idea of what he might find, but it surpassed his expectations.

“The fans welcomed him and they were delighted in the manner he performs and brings something unique.”

+1  Very excited to see if he can carry on where he left off.  I nearly wet myself when he scored the equaliser at the Emirates.  In fact, a small amount definitely leaked out, but that might just be my age.

We've missed having him coming off the bench. His pace scares the shit out of defences and without him our bench has looked a bit tame.

Before Deulofeu got injured, Martinez, was using him and Ossie to inject pace and energy in the second half of our games.
Since then Ossie has been made to start games to cover injured players.

My view is that Ossie's legs have gone and he can't put in 90 minutes anymore , he makes more use coming on as a sub.

I think Foofoo was right on the verge of being much more than an impact sub when he got injured... he is quality & was very close to an instant name on the start sheet... we'll see how far his injury has set him back now I suppose

I hope we keep him next season

Re: 10. Gerard Deulofeu (hailed the new Ronaldo)

Post  Super on Tue 04 Mar 2014, 1:37 pm

Everton loan star Gerard Deulofeu is desperate to force his way into the Barcelona side next season.
The promising 19-year-old has made 15 Premier League appearances for the Toffees since arriving from the Nou Camp in July - but is already looking ahead to his return to Spain.
Deulofeu said: "I am working hard with the aim of returning to Barca next season. I want to earn a place in Barca's attacking line.
"I accepted the challenge (at Everton) last summer and I am happy with my decision. Now I am more mature as a person and as a player.
"Perhaps there was a lack of confidence in me (at Barcelona), but that is normal as I was young and it's difficult to find coaches that trust young players."
Deulofeu joined the Catalan giants in 2003 at the tender age of nine and has already represented Spain at U21 level.
