The Blues boss will also be told that he must sell before he buys in the summer.

Just read this morning they have signed an African 18 year old today.  Laughing

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/454563/Everton-s-Roberto-Martinez-We-want-to-keep-Rom-as-long-as-we-can

SIGN HIM  cheers

Everton's Roberto Martinez: "We want to keep Rom as long as we can"

ROBERTO MARTINEZ wants to keep Romelu Lukaku at Everton beyond the end of the season and will hold back some of his transfer kitty until the summer in order to test Chelsea’s resolve.

The Everton manager is in regular contact with the Belgium international’s parent club and has been told they are not prepared to listen to any offers for a permanent deal for Lukaku in this window.

Lukaku - who will face West Brom, where he spent last season on loan, on Monday night - has scored nine goals this season since a temporary switch to Goodison Park to emerge as a key figure in Everton’s push for a Champions League place.

Qualifying for Europe’s elite next season will be crucial in the battle to persuade Lukaku to remain on Merseyside, but Martinez admitted he is already thinking about the August window when a move for the forward will be top of Everton’s wish-list.

“It’s not in the agreement (to sign him now),” said Martinez. “The one we have with Chelsea is that we will wait until the end of the season and as parent clubthey need to be the ones that give us the hint if it’s possible or not.

“We want to keep Rom as long as we can, but the reality is he’s on loan for the season. Rom is enjoying his football. He knows he’s here until the end of the season and I don’t think it would be beneficial to anyone to go into a conversation that’s not going to change the agreement we have until May.

“Chelsea are not contemplating selling him. I know they are not contemplating listening to offers put it that way.

“We are in permanent conversation over all the players we have on loan, so as you can imagine the situation is we need to wait until the end of the season to see how the experience went, where we are as a club, and the player needs to have a big say.”

Martinez is currently targeting a striker before the window closes to bolster Everton’s attack in the wake of Nikica Jelavic’s £5.5m move to Hull City.

And last night Everton looked set to sign Ivory Coast international Lacina Traore on loan after muscling their way in front of West Ham for the 6ft 8ins striker.

Martinez insists he will not spend for the sake of it and could leave a hefty slice of the proceeds of the sales of Marouane Fellaini, Victor Anichebe and Jelavic for the summer when it will be clearer whether Chelsea are willing to part with Lukaku.

Everton raked in around £40m for the trio before reinvesting £13m in James McCarthy and a £3m loan fee for Lukaku plus wages elsewhere.

“I’ve got plenty of money
, don’t worry. It’s not about the finances,” said Martinez, who can use Kevin Mirallas through the middle if necessary with the Belgium attacker having played there while at Olympiakos.

He's definitely better off with us. Do you think Mourinho would still be picking him when he has only scored once in 7 games? He'd be given a run at the start of a season and but when the goals dry up he'd never see regular footy at Chelsea again. They love picking non-scoring strikers but only if they are household names (Torres, Shevchenko, Eto'o...). Two seasons permanently with us, 20+ goals each season, and he could choose pretty much any club in Europe to play for.

Aren't the dreadlocks kind of useful when defenders are challenging in the air?  Just a flick and you take an eye out.

(BTW, after the Christmas video and now the new Grace Jones look, Big Luke is tending towards Romelulu  king  ) I'm joking, I'm joking. Take your foot off my throat!

Not having a go at you Helen but there are lies, damn lies and people with too much time on their hands.

Show me the goals. Ian Rush and Gary Lineker didn't do too much other than score but boy did they score.

I'm not sure we do.

A large chunk obviously went on McCarthy, plus whatever Lukaku's loan amount was, plus the 20% from the profit made that went to his former club. We have a fraction of it left, maybe £10m I would estimate.

Written on the back of a packet of fags.

27M for Felli less 20% of profit to Leige = 25M
6M for Victor + 6M for Jelli = 12M
That's 37M
Less 14M for McCarthy
That's 23M
5M spent on loan deals
18M left over*

*estimated values may be way off

Sorry but I'm having a Sheldon moment

27M for Felli less 20% of profit to Leige = 25M

I think 20% of 27M would be 5.4M leaving 21.6M
