He's quite quiet but does his work.

His role isn't showboating, goals etc so I can see why people think the above.

I'm a fan of him.

Does his job well and is now starting to get forward more too.

Impressive player, in the Carsley mould

I've become a fan too.
Did what he had to do, moving away from his only club up until then, by steady, unflashy performances.
With Barry, he's part of a tough middle, and will be our future with Barkley, at the heart of the team.

I'd not been impressed really before the Manure game, but he is proving me wrong... he was fantastic yesterday... driving forwards, tackling hard & fair .. winning the ball...

he had a great game

I think that is what we are going to get with McCarthy this season. Some weeks good, some week not so. But he has everything in his favor to become a top midfielder in the next few years. Great having Barry beside him to mentor him, a manager that believes in him and also some proper direction from International setup too. Bright future ahead. Haven't even noticed the absence of Gibson.

How about Barry moving into a central defender role next season or the one after?

I thought he had an even better game against Arse yesterday. He's had a slow start and I wasn't a fan but he's now beginning to show what he's capable of.

The fact that we are all disappointed he's suspended for the Fulham game shows what a key cog he has become over the past few games. Better than Gibson.

How many league games have we lost when either Barry or Gibson started? Barry 0 out of 11, Gibson 1 or 2 defeat in 30 odd games?

I started as being very sceptical about him, probably because his price was so high (nosebleed for EFC fan spending that much money on 1 player).... but having watched every game on at least tinternet he really is a class player .... I think he is probably the outstanding player of the season to date ... although that may be a close call with Barry himself !

He's one of those players, the type no one notices until he's not in this side. The great thing for us is that he's still young and only going to get better.
