From BBC :
Will Gareth Barry overtake Ryan Giggs' all-time Premier League appearance record in a West Brom shirt?

The 36-year-old Everton defender is having a medical at The Hawthorns, according to Sky Sports.

Barry has made 628 Premier League appearances - four behind former Manchester United winger Giggs.

He has been a good signing for us - wish him well

Yes, bit surprised Koeman has sanctioned this. He's still classy, even if he's slow as fuck and usually gets a yellow within five minutes of trotting onto the pitch. I know we have quite a lot in midfield now, but at the moment he's no worse than McCarthy, Schneid and Klaassen. Could have done with another season out of him really, but WBA must have promised him a regular start.

Koeman only agreed to let Gareth Barry go as he's been offered more chance to start for WBA, a fee of 1millon has been agreed between the two Clubs,

I guess'' Barry'' doesn't want to be a bench warmer, fair play to him, shame Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley couldn't behave with such loyalty and distinction .

Good Luck GB cheers

Beating Giggs while wearing an EFC shirt would have been a bonus.

A model pro. I'm a bit disappointed that he's been allowed to leave considering that we'll have additional (hopefully) Europa League games this season.

It would be assumed that Davies/Klaassen/Schneiderlin/Gueye (not including Barkley) are enough in the CM position. Even likely that Barry talked to Koeman and asked how much playing time he'd get this year and the decision to leave was thus mutual.

Not with us anymore, but "Gareth Barry made a record-equalling 632nd Premier League appearance" today.

"Barry, who shares the record with Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, also became the first player to start 600 Premier League games."

I hear ya, but don't really agree. He's an older version of Schneiderlin with his sideways passes. Now, he might have a more vocal presence than the other more-quiet midfielders, but that's about it.

He looks too much like Shakin' Stevens for my liking.

Incidentally I saw something on SkySports the other day that referred to this record and it said that Barry plays for WBA and previously played for Villa and City.

I thought Barry was much more positive than the Schnide.
Barry was always looking for the forward pass. Schnide is just about ball protection. Oooo errr.

You might have a point considering that Schneiderlin has never passed the ball up the pitch. Laughing Laughing No

Koeman didn't want to let him go apparently, only did so reluctantly and may be regretting it now
