Read this twice and can't help myself from smiling.

YELLOW CARD - Everton 3-0 Arsenal
Ross Barkley, you're a lucky boy. Barkley pushes Mikel Arteta to the floor in midfield, he gets away with it and somehow Arteta ends up in the book. No love lost between the Everton team and their former midfielder as Leighton Baines gives him a veral dressing down too.

Barry Horne's Equaliser wrote:After five league wins on the bounce, we find ourselves in with a chance of fulfilling Bobby's post-appointment promise at the first time of asking. Just seven cup finals to go, but this one is the biggest. I shuddered when I found myself agreeing with Graeme Sourness, but if we are to achieve Champions League football next season then it is most likely to be at the expense of Arsenal, and this makes this game the most significant of our seven must win games.

Luckily for us, the nerves that we showed against Fulham will be put to one side and Anders Limpar, Kevin Campbell and Stephen Hughes will all put in monumental performances. The game will ultimately be settled with five minutes to go, with Mikel Arteta slicing horribly into his own net and securing a memorable 1-0 win to the home team. COYB.

Really annoyed that Arteta gets booed. We're better than that.

Agree it was good that they all made up!

Did Barkley get booked for shoving Arteta or did the ref see it. If not surely it was a red card offence?

I agree, but I think it's all down to his antics at the cup game when he was pumping the Arse shirt logo after scoring the peno.

I think Arteta's behavior in general rather then the fact that he is an ex-blue is what gets on the fans nerves. Whinging, looking for frees or player to get booked. All shithouse behaviour.

First line of Guardian report..†lol!
Everton want to take Arsenal's place in the Champions League. At Goodison Park on Sunday they simply took the mickey.

In our hands now... - Everton 3-0 Arsenal
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright: "It is difficult to put into words how good that was. I have seen some comprehensive victories for Everton but that was so consummate I thought 'if you're going to take me, take me now'.

"It was a great afternoon. An afternoon better than we would thought it would be. But that is Roberto Martinez - he gives you a dream and then goes one more. We have got difficult games coming up but qualifying for the Champions League is in our hands now."

Re: 2013-14 Tipster Weeks 1 to 38 Part II

Post  Yankthattoffee on Sun 06 Apr 2014, 9:18 pm

Just a few thoughts.

The guy next to me at the game said we needed 11 heroes today. †We had them in buckets.

Arteta got booed because he's turned into a little shyt. Badge kissing, feigning injury, is just a part of it. He was booked for gobbing off when it appeared the ref was going to just wag his finger at him and Barks.

Coleman is really enjoying life with Robby. Was the skinning of Cazorla better than the original Cruyff turn? Seamus left him like a statue. Could have played his Gaelic dribble for the entire length of the pitch, (and scored).

Dizzie was a monster, as he always is, when it's needed.

Our midfield were swarming at times, but what the hell was KM doing dribbling across his own 6 yard box?

Nais is at last in his preferred position, and doing to some bossing of his team-mates as well.

Our bench is formidable.

The carnival atmosphere for the last 10 minutes should have been translated into 1-2 goals more, but I'll take the showboating for the shear entertainment value.

At the end, Ox Chamberlain went towards Gladdy and Bullens to applaud the EFC crowd. I like the lad.

They were chanting in Upper Bullens!!!

Post  Tonteau on Sun 06 Apr 2014, 10:08 pm

There's not much to say about the game that hasn't been said, but the absolute best thing for me was that fact that not only did we not bottle it, we totally dominated. Got the first, went for a second, got the second, went for a third, got that and just strangled them to the extent that by 65-70 minutes they'd pretty much given up. Didn't drop back and invite them on too much like we would have under moyes. I genuinely wasn't really nervous for the whole game, we just looked in control. Every time we beat them with Moyes at the helm Arsene complained of being fouled and bullied out the game, this time he can't say a thing. We beat them playing them at their own game and playing it better.

Sin miedo boys, sin miedo.
