He'll be like a new signing when he gets back.

Or we will get the shitsu player back we had before he jetted off for the ACON.

Interesting though that he's MVP of the tournament but can't get a game for us under Martinez.

Probably somewhat true at least. As in if we play him over X times, then we need to pay more. It doesn't do anyone any good if he's penalized for playing, so to speak. Why even bother with a loan then?

That might be true as well. I am just saying that my guess is that we have paid a flat fee for up to X games. I Atsu does well and we play him more, we owe Chelsea more money.

Re: 19. Christian Atsu - Everloan strikes again

Post  Super on Tue 17 Feb 2015, 8:30 am

ROBERTO MARTINEZ admits Christian Atsu has struggled to adapt to the demands of the Premier League. Atsu, 23, who is on loan at Goodison Park from Chelsea, played only nine matches before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations, where he helped Ghana reach the final. Atsu was named player of the tournament and Martinez is now confident he will begin show similar form for his club, who face Swiss club Young Boys in the Europa League on Thursday.

"I have always been aware Christian maybe needed a bit of a period to settle into the British game," said Martinez. "It's the league. The physicality, the refs let you play, they allow more contact. "I always felt the second half of season would be his time and felt he would play a lot when he came back. "He will have opportunities to show the player he is because not seen the player he was at [previous clubs] Vitesse and Porto .” "We've not seen it yet but I have incredible feeling towards him."

From what little we saw of him, he's rubbish. But I would like to have seen him play a few more games before making my mind up. There could be a decent player in there somewhere.

Nice to see he got plenty of game time at Bournemouth.....

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have confirmed Christian Atsu's loan deal has been cut short. The attacking midfielder only featured in two league cup games and the Cherries say he was "recalled" by Chelsea.
