Eto's was left out of the squad last night amidst contact from a couple of Italian clubs.   He's definitely going.
big last payday I guess .. something we won't offer.... we need to milk them for as high a transfer fee as we can..

bit of a shame while we still have a chance in Europe though .. he's a good asset to have in that comp
Maybe Luke sees himself as the big dog again. S.O. may have been a bit overawing. ?

I heard a rumour that if Eto'o starts another game for us - his 1 year contract becomes a 2 year, hence he's not been starting games for a while.    Wouldn't be surprised if this was true.

Could have done with him coming on last night - i think it may well have been a different outcome if he had.

we could always start McGeady & sub him as soon as the ball first goes into touch, every game Very Happy

How bad must Pienaar be these days if he can't even get in ahead of Mcgeady?

Pienaar's injured I believe, but I do think he's probably past his sell by date... did Shitsu go to the ANC ?... although from what we've seen of him even McGeady may be better

Not too fussed if Eto'o leaves. He looked good to start with but now looks like he can't be arsed. We'll need to get someone in to replace him, unless Bobby is going to give the kids a chance. Who plays up front for Wigan? jocolor

A 2.5 year contract for a 33 year old? No wonder he wanted moved. Perhaps we can sell them Barry?

Maybe we can address the lack of balance on the left side now? Eto'o and Lukaku were been forced to accommodate either other at a cost to each others game. Probably miss Eto'o for the Europa League but we have Kone now, eh?

I think this shows just how good Nais is... Nais has kept Eto'o out the team, not Kone....

It's been great having a name like Eto'o at the club, but in reality he's only been a bit player for us....

btw ... is it ACTUALLY confirmed yet that he's gone

Not yet but all the signs are there really. Eto'o would probably have been more useful when we were flying last year but not real the guy to dig you out of a hole. In fairness Lukaku has rolled his sleeves up. Eto'o can go commentate at African Nations tournament.

Everton are poised to hand over a £240,000 parting gift to striker Samuel Eto'o when he completes a move to Sampdoria.

The Cameroon star is all set to join the Italian side and the final paperwork should be completed in the next 48 hours.

The Toffees will receive a £1m fee from the Italian club but will also pay Eto'o one month's severance - equal to his £55,000 a week wages.

Sampdoria have agreed to pay a similar figure to the former Barcelona and Inter Milan star as part of his agreed signing-on package.

Everton did have an option to extend the 33-year-old's stay at Goodison Park by a further 12 months, although boss Roberto Martinez has flatly dismissed speculation of any fall-out.

Weird one. At the start of his brief time with us, he looked a different class to the rest of our team. To the rest of the PL actually. He looked like one of those special players that you see once in a generation.

And now he's off. After less than five months.

Weird one.

Obviously Lukakus price tag meant he needed to be first choice but when he was playing badly we should have had Eto'o playing up front.

Sampdoria insist Samuel Eto’o wants to join them, but “nobody can figure out who is in charge at Everton.”

Sampdoria insist Samuel Eto’o wants to join them, but “nobody can figure out who is in charge at Everton.”

The transfer saga is dragging on, as Samp announced via several interviews over the last few days that Eto’o had agreed terms for a transfer.

They were waiting for him to extricate himself from the Everton contract, but that is taking far longer than expected.

“I haven’t been working in football for long and can say this is a weird working environment,” said Sampdoria President – and movie producer – Massimo Ferrero on Sky Sport Italia.

“People say one thing and then do another. Nobody can figure out who is in charge at Everton, but we are getting to a breakthrough.
