Leandro Rodriguez - He'll never make it

He's off to Brentford to not make it there, before returning to Everton to not make it here either.

Championship side Brentford have signed Everton striker Leandro Rodriguez on a one-month loan deal.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan has made one appearance for the Premier League club, against Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup, since joining them last August.

Rodriguez scored 19 goals in 71 games for River Plate Montevideo prior to his move to Goodison Park.

"Leandro is held in high regard at Everton and is a big prospect," Bees boss Dean Smith told BBC Radio London.

"He likes to get in the box and thrives on crosses. He stretches the line well and those are things we need."

Rodriguez is Smith's first signing as Brentford head coach following his appointment at the end of November.

"It's nice to finally bring someone in," Smith added. "We needed a new face around the place and we are thankful Everton are happy for him to come here.

"We have got a good track record with Everton players when they have come here and done well."

Uruguayan striker has had his spell at Belgian club Waasland-Beveren cut short

Everton striker Leandro Rodríguez will return to Goodison Park after his loan spell at Belgian club Waasland-Beveren was cut short without him playing a single game.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues in August 2015 for £500,000 from River Plate Montevideo in his native Uruguay.

Rodriguez has played just one single minute of first team football for Everton by coming on as a late substitute in a 2-0 FA Cup third round victory over Dagenham & Redbridge in January 2016.

He then went on to start two games on loan for Championship side Brentford but was substituted in both, going off after 76 minutes in a 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers and getting the hook at half-time in a 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest when the score was still goalless.

After snapping Rodriguez up on a four-year deal, the then Everton manager Roberto Martinez said: “Leandro is one of those elite, talented youngsters who we like to bring in.

“I am not saying that to put pressure on the boy, but he is a player we can be very much excited about in the future.

“He probably won't need time with the Under-21s because he has played enough games with his first team in Uruguay in a really competitive league.

“Hopefully we can provide a path where he can develop and enjoy his football. If he can do that, clearly that's going to bring goals.”

Now in charge of the Belgium national team, Martinez is believed to have influenced Waasland-Beveren in their decision to take Rodriguez on loan but despite the Jupiler League side having three fixtures remaining they have decided to call time on his disappointing spell with the club.

What a tosser Martinez is

We buy a striker on a 4 year contract who gets hooked at Brentford, and can't even get a game for a side that are struggling to stay in the Belgian league, and this is an elite talented youngster Neutral
