So ok if he signs for four years - it is as much a one-sided insurance policy for us as it is likely to be great news. Rom's agent I think remembers that there were no callers in the summer..... Everton now know that we have a guy coming out of a dip... we will not get CL football this year (and probably next year) but after that...

Signing him to the length we are talking will allow us to maximise the players value.... I am hoping that if we do have to sell then he goes for absolutely top dollar and ideally to someone who will pay top dollar..... that looks like RM/PSG.... Bayern do not pay the wages..... although the thought of Rom going to Barca and ol' buckteeth coming here would both terrify me and make me smile at the same time.... if only to see how the others would view such "loyalty"....

Rom will sign a new contract after assurances by Big Moshi that Aguero will sign in the summer.

Ok I made that up, but I don't care... I'm in dream mode

Re: Romelu Lukaku - Chelsea's loss (for this season)

Post  The President on Thu 09 Feb 2017, 8:59 pm

Everton's improved performances can convince striker Romelu Lukaku to stay at the club, says boss Ronald Koeman.

The Belgium international's agent has said a new deal at Goodison is close to being agreed.

"If players see a future in the club and the team is improving and getting stronger every day that is always a plus for them to stay," Koeman said.

"That is what we need to show him so he is convinced the short future is at Everton."

The Toffees were ninth following defeat by local rivals Liverpool on 19 December but have since gone seven league games unbeaten and sit seventh.

Earlier this season Koeman said Lukaku would need to leave Goodison Park to fulfil his potential but in December the player's agent, Mino Raiola, said a contract extension was 99% done.

The 23-year-old is the Premier League's top scorer with 16 goals this season and scored four against Bournemouth on Saturday.

"I didn't speak to the board about Romelu. If his agent mentioned he likes to stay and he will sign a new deal that is perfect for Everton," Koeman said.

"We know everyone has their own ambition - that's only human - but we want to keep the good players and he is one of those.

"He is top scorer in the league at the moment and is playing at a high level and is so clinical it would be difficult to find a replacement for him, and for that I hope he will stay."

can't get the links at work... but that's a lot of money for a player that they binned a few years ago... like Pogba at Manure

Well, we can't complain if he does go for that sum.. the problem is finding a replacement who could be as good for us as he has been...

Maybe we really should go 100M as a response for Aguero, who has already publicly said he wants to leave Citeh,, that's a net spend of zero & Aguero for Luka... + of course the salary uplifts & the robing agent bastard fees of course.. but fuck it we're minted aren't we?

I think it's been agreed that he'll be sold in the summer and all talk of a new contract is bullshit. It's just a ploy to keep the fans off his back.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, 23, has agreed a new contract with the club worth £110,000 a week - but the deal, which runs until 2022, includes an exit clause if one of Europe's top clubs wants to buy the Belgium international. (Mirror)

Alternatively, Lukaku's new five-year deal could instead be worth £140,000 a week. (Daily Star)

Lukaku is gone In the summer and we better get used to It, the 5 year contract deal Is nothing more than security for the club to get the transfer-fee It will demand,
I watched Lukaku against W B A and he totally looked sh*t against Spurs.

Its time we looked for a world class striker.

Edison Cavani anyone? Got slated by PSG fans after returning from Barcelona .

I'm all fed up of the " will he, won't he " saga.

It seems obvious to me that he is stalling for a move and will jump as soon as possible, there is no loyalty with him at all, even if we got Euro footy he will be off.

We, as a club are right in maximising our assets, I think we need to be looking round for a QUALITY replacement

I am certain he will be off in the summer
