Everton V MFK Ružomberok

Post  SouthernSmugToffee on Mon 24 Jul 2017, 2:45 pm

Europa league 3rd qualifying round 1st leg. To be played on Thursday 27th July K.O. 20.05

MFK Ružomberok qualified for this season’s Europa League after finishing third in the Slovakian league in 2016/17. They edged past Serbian side Vojvodina in the first qualifying round, coming from 2-1 down in the first leg to win 2-0 at home and go through 3-2 on aggregate. Another deficit was closed in the next phase, as SK Brann were beaten 2-0 in the second leg in Norway to secure a 2-1 aggregate win for Ružomberok.

Notable former players include strikers Erik Jendrisek and Mulumba Mukendi, and midfielder Michal Fasko, while former Rosenborg and Trabzonspor midfielder Marek Sapara is one of the team’s current key men.

We need to beat them by at least 3 goals at goodison, they seem to always win 2-0 at home, but I'd like for us to put down a marker here and stonk them at home, and away.

Game sold out! Some effort for a low glamour qualifier but just goes to show how much fans buying into new project plus the chance to see so many new faces for first time. Got the Rooney factor already starting to kick in too. So many wanting to be there for the return. All in should be a 10-0 cakewalk.

Rooney x 3
Klassen
Keane
Mirallas
Lookman x 2
Sigurdsson x 2 free kicks Wink

Tidy start from Klassen. Really comfortable in possession. Trying lots of neat one twos.

These lot aren't great. Disciplined and not afraid to put the boot in but no threat yet. We're having to work hard to get the ball into the final third. Bit too slow especially down the right hand side.

Getting pretty sluggish now and crowd getting restless. Williams not inspiring confidence at the back either. Klassen diffo the stand out performer. Rooney good when it gets to his feet but not very dynamic across the front line. Would like to see Sandro ahead of him in second half.
