Everton vs AFC Bournemouth

Post  Hinchcliffe Corner on Wed 20 Sep 2017, 9:49 pm

After a much needed win (and clean sheet) against Sund-ayleagu-erland it's back to the business of trying to stay in the top flight. A home game against the team below us beckons. Back to back wins, and a convincing performance is required.

3-1

Rooney, DCL and SuperNiasse to score

The team pretty much picks itself. Pickford, 8 midfielders, plus DCL and Niasse up front.

6-0 to the Blue Boys, the bookies install us as favourites for the title, and Barcelona put Koeman on speed-dial. A week's a long time in PL football.

I think last night proved there is no place for Rooney in the team... ok, maybe on the bench.

We need DCL, Lookman or Niasse up front.... but we will get Rooney and it will be 0-0 Crying or Very sad

Koeman's press conference today..

Ronald Koeman on Everton's away draw to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup: "Easy one. If you like to win a title then you have to beat all the teams. Of course it’s away, it’s Chelsea but it’s not important for now.”

On last night being a turning point: "Let's hope. The first step was yesterday. This Saturday is important. With the last results we need a win at home."

On the start of the season: "If you compare the results last season to now then it is not a big difference but we did have a really good run at home. This season is different, we had already played the qualification for the Europa League and the fixtures were difficult. “Now we have to show we are confident. Yesterday was the best medicine. Good performances usually bring winning games.”

Koeman on finishing in the top four: “Maybe it was different for everybody because we reached the Europa League group stage, three points against Stoke and one point against City. People thought we had more. “I know what I like and the way to be successful. It is ridiculous to put a lot of pressure on the team to finish in the top four. “Everybody signed new players. We signed young players. That needs time. Let’s make the next step. That doesn’t mean we don’t have ambition. If there is one person in football then he is on this table - but I am realistic.”

Koeman on Dominic Calvert-Lewin: "He is a big talent. He is strong. He is fast and he showed yesterday he could score goals. He can be more clinical but that’s okay because no player at that age is totally good at all aspects.

"He can play different positions. He was playing nine, but he can play 11, seven or with two strikers. There are a lot of possibilities with Dominic in the team. He is making big steps."

On Sandro Ramirez: "I have spoken to Sandro and he needs time. Even in the big clubs they get time - but they have so many players so not as much pressure. The Premier League is more physical and intensive. You need time to adapt."

translation: we beat a really shit team 3-0.  Bournemouth will probably get at least a point from us.

This season is different, we had already played the qualification for the Europa League and the fixtures were difficult.  “Now we have to show we are confident. Yesterday was the best medicine. translation: I'm fairly confident we won't get relegated

Koeman on Dominic Calvert-Lewin: "He is a big talent. He is strong. He is fast and he showed yesterday he could score goals. He can be more clinical but that’s okay because no player at that age is totally good at all aspects.

I'll be heading down to the Three Lions pub in Denver. Very Happy Not quite the same as going to the game though, but there will be fellow Evertonians there.

Turns out that the Three Lions are not showing the game after all; not shown on any network channel. So, it'll be a dodgy Chinese/Russian/Albanian feed then.

Everton: Pickford, Martina, Holgate, Williams, Baines, Gueye, Schneiderlin, Calvert-Lewin, Klaassen, Sigurdsson, Rooney.

Keane out injured. Still very little pace in the side.
