I won't be able to watch the game, but it'll be interesting to see how we do when it comes to the score, the way we play, how the crowd reacts to the team, etc.

From his first press conference....

Let's hear from interim Everton boss David Unsworth at his news conference:

"I'm a very proud man sat here preparing to lead Everton out tomorrow. It doesn't matter how many games I have, I'll give it everything I've got."

"I spent the afternoon with the chairman yesterday and we spoke everything Everton. I'll repeat myself from last time I sat here 18 months ago, who wouldn't want this job? The chairman has given me an opportunity to hopefully get a run of games where hopefully performance levels go up. From that, performances will dictate any future for me as Everton manager. I want to manage and this is an amazing club to be manager of. I make no secret of it."

"We had a great session this morning, the players were fine, they were buzzing. The players reacted straight away, we'll travel down to London this afternoon and I thought it went well.

(What has been the problem this season?) "We'll all have our opinions and look at individuals or formations but the bottom line is we haven't won enough games. The commitment to the cause has been there but it's a collective thing. The team hasn't won enough games and we have to burden the responsibility together."

There will be a strong Everton core through the David Unsworth backroom team at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night. Former Toffees star striker and boss Joe Royle will be alongside Unsworth and other ex-players Duncan Ferguson and John Ebbrell.

The thing is... Unsworth has been more than successful with the junior squad (i.e. he went and won something)..... you could say that if he pulls youth through he will have his loyal base.... but that is a huge risk. At the same time RK has been there he maintained Dunc's spot as a first team coach....

Now if things are to be believed, one of the trouble spots we have had this year was that RK could not reach the players to motivate them (i.e. put a bit of dog in them...) which makes me wonder why Dunc wasn't picking up the slack. If Dunc could not motivate them then wtf - we have a real mountain to climb.

If it is to be Unsworth.... then perhaps like Dalglish's first season he has a senior mentor... in this case Joe. Joe can resurrect the Dogs of War attitude we need in the short term.... I would honestly not do too much to upset the U23 .... retaining a worthwhile piece of silver bodes well now and for the future reputation of the club that might just attract a quality manager of proven capability at the highest level.

Whoever does come in should be told that Unsy is his number 2. I would offer Neville (or Duncan) to take over the U23 and prove capability by retaining the title.... there is an inate attraction of creating a managerial backroom of committed individuals who all have playing history with the club.

What does this mean for Ross? Well for starters I would probably tell him he can sign a pre-contract but that he is going nowhere until the summer....

Colman, Bolasie, Barkley, Funes Mori - that is a pretty big gap to fill.

Looks like Unsy is bringing in some U23 players in to the first team squad. Henen is one of them, as well as the "next Kante".

He did indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if Henen gets on the bench at some point too, he's looked okay on the U23 highlights I've seen. Maybe worth a run-out at some point?

I obviously really do want him to do well... but the main reason RK failed was that he didn't replace Lukaku.

..Rhino has inherited the squad that didn't replace Lukaku.

...I'm not expecting miracles.... and I'm not expecting the board to allow Rhino to spend 100M on a striker at Christmas either.

In short... new broom with new ides.... but we'll probably still be shit when it settles down & the honeymoon period is over

http://www.football365.com/news/barton-launches-second-scathing-attack-on-evertons-unsworth

Barton in second scathing attack on Everton’s Unsworth
Date published: Monday 30th October 2017 12:00

Joey Barton believes Everton would be relegated if they place David Unsworth in permanent charge.

Unsworth has taken over as Everton caretaker manager after the sacking of Ronald Koeman last week.

The Toffees have lost both of their games in that time, and find themselves 18th in the Premier League table.

Barton, who blasted Unsworth’s weight at the weekend, has again laid into the former Under-23s manager.

“He’s talking a big game in the papers saying he wants the job and thinks he can handle the job full-time,” Barton told talkSPORT.

“He is saying this on the back of having never managed a senior side, not really done an apprenticeship and gone down the leagues to ply his trade and work his way back up into a position to manage a Premier League club.

“In my opinion, he has cosied up to Bill Kenwright, who he knows is a romantic, who he knows likes former players to be involved in the football club, and is attempting to take a shortcut.

“He doesn’t look right to me. He is not the right man for the Everton job.

“If he takes the Everton job, Everton will get relegated.”

its probably true.... but Joey Barton said it, so he can fuck off. Taking football advice from Joey Barton is like asking Donald Trump about .... anything

As already stated above

No matter who is in charge is fucked

We have no forwards, DCL is too lightweight at the moment.

If we had a scorer on the pitch yesterday it would have been a very different game.

Joey Barton is a bellend of nuclear proportions. Having said that, Unsworth probably does need to prove himself at a slightly lower level, like a Sheffield club or the Shite, then see how he gets on. Dyche, for example, is ready to be tested at a club like Everton. Though he'd no doubt turn out to be absolutely terrible.

The successful manager at Everton will be the one who gets the job after Christmas. He'll have Barkley, Coleman, Bolasie back in the squad and the chance to pick up a couple of defenders in the window.

I do not think he will go... he will announce where he is going and will probably state that for footballing reasons he is far bigger than the club and its ambitions...

And its unlikely that he be ever really welcomed back....

Well we certainly do not have the squad to allow him to do a Dalglish.

The fact is we need to appoint someone leading up to Christmas... somebody needs to sit DU down and say that right now he best serves us by being a coach..

I am assuming that RK took his cohort with him... is Erwin still at the club and the conditioning physio? In which case we have Dave and Dunc doing the training .... not good...

There are a lot of suggestions swirling around, but the best I've heard (possibly) is a foreign coach to come in, maybe Tuchel, with Unsworth as his assistant.

edit: oh hold on, Bellend Barton has said Tuchel would be mad to come to Everton.... so we'd best forget it eh, Joey has spoken.
